Pinch me, I’m headed to Monte Carlo, Monaco on the Côte d’Azur! This Grace Kelly fan can’t wait to cross the jewel of the Riviera off her bucket list. Yes, I will be sporting my Mont Blanc Princess Grace de Monaco timepiece on my wrist for this trip hoping a little bit of her elegance rubs off on me. One week from today I hop on a plane from the U.S. with Gal Pal Elizabeth to the Principality of Monaco; where reportedly the sun shines 300 days a year. With the frigid weather upon us, it will be a welcome change. It doesn’t matter if it’s cold, the sunshine will be delightful.
My home base for a few days will be the prestigious Fairmont Monte Carlo, one of the largest hotels in Europe. The Fairmont brand is known for its consistently good service and attention to detail. I recently stayed at the one in Boston’s Battery Wharf and hope I find the same level of luxury in the Principality of Monaco. The Monte Carlo Hotel also has a world-class casino and several boutiques in case I forget to pack something essential. Forget New York, Monte Carlo is a city that never sleeps – the Fairmont has a bar/lounge that is open 24 hours a day. I can’t wait to check it out! It is located smack in the middle between the Mediterranean Sea and the most famous casino in the world – Casino of Monte Carlo. Think Bond, James Bond. Martini connoisseur Elizabeth will have to try a martini at the Casino, shaken not stirred.
