Le Procope $$$

Le Procope window Weekend In Paris

Le Procope - reportedly the oldest café in Paris and is centrally located in the 6th.  One side of the café is on a cobble stone back “alley” of sorts with some charming shops and the other is on a great little side street near the Odeon theater.  It also happens to be located right next door to one of my favorite hotel picks.  My favorite dish there is the beef bourguignon.  Definitely arrive a bit early and look at all the fresh fish in the window as well as the interesting history displayed on the walls of each room.

  1. Make reservations on line. Plan to eat a late lunch at 14:30. Same wonderful service and food and a bit less expensive than eating there for dinner. Love Procope for a special meal in Paris.

    • I could not agree more! Wonderful spot for lunch too! Take the time to see each room and the history that is documented there on plaques.
Thanks for writing a comment here.

  2. Love this café! The cobblestone alley behind it used to be a moat surrounding the wall protecting Paris in the early 13th century, and there’s even a piece of the wall left inside one of the shops there. Also interesting is when you first walk into the café there a hat of Napoleon’s. I wrote a bit about it on my blog as well if you’re interested. But more importantly, how is the quality of food there? I’ve only had drinks.
